What is covered in EDT Lesson #6?

The main objective for lesson 6 is learning how to identify and react appropriately to hazards and potentialhazards.

What are hazards and potential hazards? Some examples are:

  • Pedestrians
  • Cyclists
  • Motorcyclists
  • Animals
  • Roads with poor visibility (bends, hills, tree cover)
  • Streets with parked cars
  • Junctions
  • Roads with warning signs
  • Blind spots
  • Road works
  • Crossings
  • Roundabouts
  • Weather conditions

Observation and Safe Distance

During this lesson we’ll be using our observation techniques, as well as learning how to react appropriately (and not panic) when dealing with hazards. The more aware you are of your surroundings, the easier it will be to adjust your speed accordingly and react safely.
